Taipei, Oct. 23 (CNA) According to the Central Epidemic Command Center, Taiwan recorded 35,365 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, including 43 cases that were imported (CECC).
Ages of the deceased ranged from four months to ninety years old. Thirty had not had a COVID-19 vaccination, and all but seven had underlying medical conditions, according to the CECC.
According to Deputy Head of the CECC's Medical Response Division Lo Yi-chun (), the youngest mortality was a 4-month-old unvaccinated boy with no underlying medical conditions.
365 New COVID-19 Cases:
On October 10, the boy's polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test resulted with a positive result. He then experienced fever and was transported to an emergency hospital, where he received treatment and recovered. Lo noted that he was released on October 15th.
However, the child was admitted back to the hospital on October 19 after experiencing yet another fever on October 18. A doctor later determined that the youngster had sepsis after noticing swollen lymph nodes in his neck as well as low blood pressure, dyspnea, and mottled skin.
The boy's condition worsened despite therapy, and he passed away on October 20 after going into complex septic shock, according to Lo. The infant had ear discharge while being treated at the hospital, but it is unknown if that contributed to the sepsis.
According to CECC data, the deceased newborn was the third child to die from sepsis out of 37 children in that age range and the fourth child to get sepsis out of 253 severe cases in children aged 12 and younger.

What does the term "self-initiated epidemic prevention" mean?
A: During the seven-day period, persons may stay at a hotel or at home, provided they adhere to the "one-person-per-room" rule (remaining in a private room with a private bathroom) and refrain from interacting with other occupants of the same house.
The time might be spent in the same living environment with other travellers. The government advises that two persons at most should occupy a hotel room to minimise overcrowding.
Each visitor will receive four complimentary rapid test kits upon arrival; the first one must be used on the day of arrival or the following day, which is the first day of the seven-day "self-initiated epidemic prevention."
For seven days straight of the week, arrivals must adhere to self-initiated pandemic prevention practises. A person's self-initiated epidemic prevention period, for instance, would last until after midnight on Wednesday the following week if they arrived at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
