In order to secure a position in the Western Conference playoffs, Minnesota United defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 on Sunday. Franco Fragapane scored early in the first half, and Jonathan Gonzalez added insurance in the second.

Minnesota United (15-14-6) moved to 3-0-2 all-time against Vancouver (12-16-7) at home. Minnesota United (15-14-6) entered the game needing a win or tie to advance. A victory was necessary for the Whitecaps to clinch a playoff spot.

Inter Miami's four-match winning streak at home came to an end even though they had already secured a position in the playoffs.

In the regular-final season's game, CF Montreal easily defeated Inter Miami 3-1 with to goals from Djordje Mihailovic and Lassi Lappalainen in the opening eight minutes. Despite falling short of first place in the East.

Montreal (21-9-5)'s Mihailovic opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and Lappalainen added his goal three minutes later with a helper from Mihailovic. Kei Kamara scored in the 36th minute to make it 3-0 at the break.

For Montreal, Mihailovic and Kamara each scored nine goals, which was second only to Romell Quioto's 15-goal performance for the squad. This was Lappalainen's third goal.

This season, Montreal has won six more games than any other, and it has scored 65 points, which is a 14-point improvement. With 15 one-goal triumphs, Montreal finished second only to New England's record of 18 set last season.

The hat trick of Gazdag helps Union defeat Toronto FC.

The Union defeated FC Toronto 4-0 on Sunday to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference thanks to three goals from Daniel Gazdag.

To guarantee the top seed, home-field advantage, and a bye in the first round of the playoffs, the Union needed to win on Decision Day. If there had been a tie or loss, Montreal might have had a chance to win first place.

With goals in the fourth and 42nd minutes, respectively, plus an assist on Mikael Uhre's goal, Philadelphia had a 2-0 advantage at the half.

At the 60-minute mark of the second half, Gazdag scored on a penalty kick, and three minutes later, he completed his hat trick.

Toronto didn't attempt to score with a shot.

Toronto fell to 9-18-7 while The Union improved to 19-5-10.
